1.
Starlight lingers over your head When you go to bed each night Rainwater lays siege on the roof Though your mouth is still so dry Bike ride on a Saturday morn Over the hills of green I remember bright candy corn Sugar ran through the street And the way you touched my neck And ran your hands across my back I wont forget till I’ve found a feeling That makes the dogs run through the streets And clears the sky of all the dust That spun around when you went up In a puff of smoke into the clouds I won’t forget until it’s found
2.
Woke up on foggy morn Climbed down from the sky It never crossed my mind That I was still alight When I saw the chirping birds A haze came over my eyes I fell asleep again In a way I can’t describe Well, watching from the porch is one fine way to live When the dreams come up from the hallows I’m turning back again I hopped over the wall That separates the way Of understanding why And how it feels inside And the bears were drinking honey From mason jars so grand And big birds singing songs About flying over land But they don’t fly away They circle back around And drink with me tonight In the midst of chiming sounds Well, watching from the porch is one fine way to live When the dreams come up from the hallows I’m turning back again
3.
I look out my window And let loose a current That rattles airplanes in the sky When the sun goes down I see my reflection And the current hits me hard back in the face And by the morning I’m stuck to my carpet And my eyes are glued to my floor Down my driveway you come soaring You find me in a puddle You dreamt about a gust of wind Going from my house to yours We climbed out the window Sat upon the rooftop And talked about paw prints in my backyard I once saw a horse With gold and silver hair And a string of stars around her neck And I’m quite suspicious She sneaks into my house And she’s the reason that I’ve ever smiled When there are stars upon the ceiling Shadows on the wall I will form a twinkle in my eye And I’ll let it out tomorrow through the window
4.
When I wonder if I’m underground I think about flying around Through the grey puffs of smoke in the sky That the world seems to keep puffing out there But they aren’t so clean as they’d been In the stories you put in my head And I know that I have One foot in the sky And my feet on the ground Sometimes sink slowly down And it’s not that I think There’s a hand in the trees That guides you and me I just think There’s something still to see
5.
When I go back to the place where my mind became wild And my heart became stubborn and soft I find nothing at all but those old rabbit holes Their embrace is so empty and cold When I go back to the woods where I was saved from death On account of my two little hands I was shown a great hall deep below the ground With old friends from the stories I’ve known Well I came back to see if they’d smile upon me But the rabbits were frozen in time The foxes moved out and the old man had drowned Calling desperately all of the time And now here I sit on this bright summer’s eve The colors they flash all around Lucy gets drunk while john rolls on the ground As I look for some way to come down As I look for some way to come down Well so what, there are lights flashing on in the woods I can’t seem to care anymore The colors flash on in the grey morning now As I look for some way to come down
6.
Fell asleep on the couch By the fire, with the cat Watch the February clouds Fade, the black comes back around Your friends get high till 1 o’clock In the morning you wake up They say you’re talking in your sleep You aren’t sure what that means I miss you, like Sunday Crying on a Monday night Talkin’ through the telephone wire I miss you, like dry eyes Remember when he struck you now Feel the water rushing out Talk to the old man a while For a moment made you smile Walk around the quiet creek Don’t understand what it all means Stare at the paint till my eyes are red Watch the clock from my bed The view can be so lovely here Think I might’ve shed a tear I miss you, like Sunday Crying on a Monday night Talkin’ through the telephone wire I miss you, like dry eyes Remember when he struck you now Feel the water rushing out
7.
My belly is full of hydrangea That sprout to the top of my soft spoiled head They fill up their lungs with rainwater Now they’re bursting through me again My belly is full of brown earthworms That scurry away as I sleep My dreams, they run wild in the moonlight I’m holding my hand to your heart And as the water boils All of the air fills up with steam Just like a summer night I bathe in your eyes I know I’m clean I know I’m clean
8.
Lemonade 03:40
Sitting by the window With a flower in my hand Withering in the window And I’ll never understand What could’ve done this to me And you held my sunlight in your palm What am I goanna do The day that you’re gone Broke my back and put my lung On a thread in the yard When it rained, it became Swollen and dark In the glass of the mirror I am stained to my core Till you rip me to shreds And be gone, my disguise Sunlight fell through your palm And ran like lemonade Now I can’t go back Cause I’ll only find hate In your hands In your hands
