Statue

while this big blue world just goes to waste
i'm preserved in this sunny greenhouse
my body's paralyzed up and down the frame
the big blue butterflies land on my face
you come every morning to show your teeth
brazen and beautiful like your wedding ring
i've become a root, a part of this place
north carolina sun taints everything
that little red haired boy, he sits right down
on the rocking horse that you let hang around
the way he looks at me, it's like he knows
he rinses off my cobwebs with the garden hose
oh let me be a statue in your mind
just let all other memories die quiet
your garden needs a drink of water too
i'll get thirsty for a visit from you

The King & The Queen
05:51
|
|||
its dark in the back of this train car
and i'm sitting with the zoo animals
little girl saw my screaming in the rain
and i needed quiet company
they understand that we're going to cloud mountain
cloud mountain
we can cool down in the steam shells of cloud mountain
here comes your hair
reaching out like a wise octopus
coming out of his lair
to tell us that we're children
lost in the fog, in the fog, in the fog
in the night time my shivers sink into the walls
their faces fall to the ground like dust
the king & the queen are waiting at the table
and their voices dance all around like dreams
they understand that the beaches surround cloud mountain
cloud mountain
and the northern lights form a veil at night around the mountain
cloud mountain
here comes your hair
reaching out like a wise octopus
coming out of his lair
to tell us that we're children
lost in the fog, in the fog, in the fog
freedom is what i like to see, apple pie for you and me
freedom is what i like to see, apple pie for you and me
in america, in america

End The Day
03:57
|
|||
in the parking lots, you were ice skating
as the smoke puffed out the chimney into the air
and the borderline was made of wine
as i pulled your body out the frozen lake
oh won't you give me one try with my own eyes
oh won't you give me one try with my own eyes
and the christmas tree was flowering
from the sunlight that came beaming from your eyes
and the mistletoe grew over the walls
and the ceiling was a mask of leaves
oh won't you give me one try with my own eyes
oh won't you give me one try with my own eyes
and your hair was wet, you lay in the snow
listening to the tidy symphony of leaves
and your lips curled up
to fill my empty cup
and i felt them
end the day

Sweet Dreams
03:43
|
|||
sweet dreams, sweet dreams little garden
though i keep you in my thoughts, you'll never know
i fell fast, running through the backyard
an acorn under banks of pale white snow
always too much on my mind
i watch the wind scatter trees away
held down by the flames across your eyelids,
i know that to be in love is to be in pain
standing tender on the avenue,
though i try, you'll find me in my bed
even if i'll never have you
i'll give the heat from my body to warm your bath
i've seen many good friends fall to waste
i still probe their grey bodies for the light
ran away like fairy tales in a young boy's race
i saw you crying on the stairwell
all though it made me want to die
i want to fly you through the fields, we'll ring the silver bells
waiting for us at the top of the spire
sweet dreams, sweet dreams little garden
though i keep you in my thoughts, you'll never know
i fell fast, running through the backyard
an acorn under banks of pale white snow

The Way I Know Her Best
02:52
|
|||
sixteen birds in the dugout
heavy weight in my chest
rustling in her raincoat
that's the way that i know her best
tile floor and shaky hands
red face screaming down the hall
pouring evening down my dead throat
don't wanna remember her at all
walking sweetly from the porchlight
finally i'm out of bed
she takes my hand and with a slight twitch
she puts a bullet in my head
put that vibrating machine
on my forehead, let it hum
seal my lips shut for a while
without the weight of everyone
quiet words and screaming eyes
filthy hands on her chest
want to say a big goodbye
that's the way that i know her best

they fly
all around my head
as i dream tonight
cold blue
falls through
the cracks in the sewer grates
utill i am clean
all the cold
from one hundred winters long
is inside my body
water falls out my ears
in this green and gold haze

Wind
05:26
|
|||
the air has a blue tint today
when i saw you in your castle
there are colored lights on your walls
but i saw that you werent calling
i am cursing myself again
pacing around your ice blue fence
but there are cows and horses in the field beyond the fence
its my favorite place to bathe the wind off
sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows
where have i been going does anybody know
sometimes i can faintly smell you
through my nose
where does that wind blow?
the air has a blue tint today
i am waiting for that tint to go away
and fall into all of the sounds
that are mild and carry me around
i am losing my mind
as the blue tint carries me through time
but the wind will blow it away from me
and ill fall into the sea
theres no wind in the sea, no
sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows
where have i been going
does anybody know
sometimes i can faintly smell you
through my nose
where does that wind blow?

The Basement
04:29
|
|||
she's quietly sinking down
to the bathroom mirror again
while the wind blows outside
and tries to scream bloody lies
but when the carolina sun
creeps through the broken windows again
bright blue water comes pouring out the walls
to the darkest empty closet where you fall
and who the hell am i,
to be reading the language of this emptiness?
see those blue wings in the trees,
and they're coming to suck out darkest dreams
and replace them with the brightest glowing beams
they're flowing from your eyes, oh so it seems
down to the basement far beneath
we'll run all over town
a horses kingdom breathing once again
we'll take off our shoes and bury them so deep
your heart'll be the only thing i keep
and in the light of june
a yellow haze will spread across the scene
barely remembering how we got so clean
we'll be walking on water pretty soon
and who the hell am I?
not a profit, but only a hypocrite
see those blue wings in the trees,
and they're coming to suck out darkest dreams
and replace them with the brightest glowing beams
they're flowing from your eyes, oh so it seems
down to the basement far beneath

Julia
03:41
|
|||
i wanna know
where your sparrows fly
i'll hold my hand
up to them in the sky
and they'll fly right down
to this silver bath
rest their swollen feathers
in my roaring laugh
and finally
when the leaves are green
i'll set them off
to enjoy the breeze
there will be no trace
you were ever harmed
and i could die smiling
in your golden arms
julia
when my eyes fog up
and i feel like crying
you'll lure out my tears
with your pure white smile
cause when i came here
i was smashed to bits
by some lover who
made me love like this
so surround me with
your big brown eyes
and read me well
there'll be no surprise
and all my scars
will fall off my skin
washed right off
by the tears i shed
julia

i can't get your smell out of my head you four leaf clover
your soft powdered hands
are stamping dust all over me
in all of the museums, think i finally understand
i still don't feel resolved
i only feel small
i just wanna drive
right up to the mountainside
your face is twirling in the empty grove
i wanna fill your empty eyes
little magic pointy fingers, making my gut shrink
big blue butterflies
buttering your empty eyes
fly to me on your aeroplane
and i can die with you
even just a few hours
i could live those hours through
i just wanna drive
right up to the mountainside
your face is twirling in the empty grove
i wanna fill your empty eyes
